Associate professor of cultural anthropology, PhD, lecturer in the Department of Anthropology of the New Bulgarian University, Irena Bokova leads courses in cultural anthropology, anthropology of tourism, visual anthropology, research methods and approaches, etc. She teaches in programs in anthropology, political science in Bulgarian and in French, in master’s programs in tourism, cinema and television. Conducts field research on city issues, cultural heritage, cultural policies, mobility, collective identities, society-nature relations in a contemporary context, tourism and cultural resources. Author of monographs, studies and articles published in Bulgarian and foreign languages, screenwriter and consultant for documentary films, consultant for ethnographic exhibitions. Founder and scientific leader of the Anthropology Summer School. Conducts field work in a number of European countries, head of scientific research and participant in interdisciplinary national and international studies.
