“Dr. Vasil Beron” High School of Tourism was opened in 1964 as a Vocational-Technical School, which combined catering classes with the commercial school at the time. The beginning is modest: eight full-time staff – six special education teachers, an accountant and a treasurer. Classes on general education subjects are led by guest lecturers.
After six decades, today the school educates over 650 students in 13 specialties from a couple of major directions – Food and beverage production, Hotels and restaurants and catering, wholesale and retail sales. Graduates of the high school upgrade their knowledge in the profession within the framework of cooperation with the University of Food Technology – Plovdiv. The school actively works on projects with European and national funding.
Dr. Vasil Beron High School of Tourism is the only school in Northern Bulgaria, winner of the “GLOBAL SCHOOL” award from the national competition organized by the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in partnership with the Bulgarian Platform for International Development.
The school is a member of the Association of Cambridge Schools in Bulgaria.
